TERMS OF SERVICE

The rules, in plain English.

Last updated: 22 April 2026

01

About these terms

These terms apply when you hire me to build or host a website. By paying the 50% deposit you're agreeing to them.

If something in the quote email I send you contradicts these terms, the quote email wins — it's the specific agreement for your project.

02

What I do

I design and build websites for UK tradesmen. A standard build (£995) includes:

  • Up to 5 pages (homepage, about, services, contact, plus 1 more of your choice)
  • Mobile-responsive design
  • On-page SEO setup (meta titles, descriptions, schema markup)
  • Google Business Profile integration
  • Basic analytics setup
  • 14 days of post-launch tweaks at no charge

What's not included unless we've agreed it separately:

  • Copywriting (I'll work with what you give me, or quote for a copywriter)
  • Photography (same)
  • Ongoing content updates (available as part of the hosting package)
  • Paid ads, email marketing, social media management
03

Pricing and payment

  • Standard build: £995 one-off, paid as 50% deposit and 50% on launch.
  • Hosting: £50/month, billed monthly, ongoing.
  • Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable.

Deposits are non-refundable once work has started (see section 9).

04

Timeline

Most builds go live within 30 days of the deposit clearing — provided I've got everything I need from you (copy, photos, logo, domain access) within the first 48 hours.

If you're slow getting me the content, the timeline slips. That's on you, not me, and the deposit stays held against the project.

05

Revisions

Two rounds of revisions included as standard. Further changes billed at £60/hour.

Once the site is live I include 14 days of small tweaks for free (typos, minor copy edits, swapping a photo). After that, changes are billed per hour or rolled into your hosting package if you're on one.

06

Hosting

If you're on my hosting package (£50/month):

  • The site lives on managed WordPress hosting with daily backups.
  • Core WordPress, plugin, and security updates are included.
  • Uptime target is 99.9% (per the hosting provider's SLA).
  • You can cancel any time with 30 days' notice.
  • If you cancel, I'll export the full site (files and database) and send it wherever you want.

You always own your content. I don't hold your website hostage.

07

Your responsibilities

  • Provide the content, photos, and access details I need on time.
  • Pay on time (50% deposit, 50% on launch, then monthly hosting if applicable).
  • Don't use the site for anything illegal, defamatory, or harmful (malware, phishing, etc.).
08

Ownership of the work

  • You own all the content, photos, and copy you give me.
  • You own the finished website on launch (once final payment has cleared).
  • I keep the right to list your site in my portfolio and case studies unless you ask me not to in writing.
  • Any third-party tools used in the build (WordPress, Elementor, licensed plugins, fonts) remain owned by their creators — you have the licence to use them as part of your site, not resell them.
09

Cancellation and refunds

  • Before work has started: full refund of deposit, no questions asked.
  • After work has started but before first draft: 50% of deposit refunded.
  • After first draft delivered: deposit is non-refundable.
  • Hosting: 30 days' written notice either way.
10

Liability

I build websites. I do my best. But the internet is the internet.

  • I'm not liable for loss of business, loss of profit, or indirect damages caused by the site being down, ranking changes, or anything Google / hosting / WordPress does outside my control.
  • My total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you've paid me in the previous 12 months.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that UK law doesn't allow to be excluded.

11

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.

12

Changes to these terms

If I update these terms, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Changes apply to new projects only — if you've already paid your deposit, the terms you agreed to at that point still apply to your build.

ANYTHING UNCLEAR?

Ask me before you sign anything.

If any clause above isn’t clear or you want something changed for your specific project — just say. These are my defaults, not a take it or leave it.
