PRIVACY POLICY

Your data, handled properly.

01

Who I am

Tradesman Website Design is run by Dan, a sole trader based in the UK. I design and build websites for UK tradesmen — plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, landscapers and handymen.

If you've got questions about this policy or the data I hold about you, email sales@tradesmanwebsitedesign.co.uk.

02

What I collect

Two things only:

  • Information you give me directly — your name, phone number, email address, which trade you're in, and any business details you put in the contact form or send me by email.
  • Information collected automatically — basic website analytics (which pages you visit, how you got here, browser type) via cookies, if you accept them.
03

Why I collect it

Only two reasons:

  • To reply to your enquiry and, if you become a client, to build and run your website.
  • To understand which pages on my site are working so I can improve them.

I don't sell your data. I don't build marketing profiles. I don't send unsolicited email. If you enquire and don't become a client, I don't email you again unless you reply to me first.

04

How I store it

Contact form submissions are stored in two places:

  • In my website's database (WordPress), hosted in the UK/EU.
  • In my email inbox, as the notification email generated when the form is submitted.

Analytics data is stored by Google (Google Analytics) and, for security/performance, Cloudflare. Both have their own published privacy policies.

05

Who I share it with

Only the minimum needed to deliver the service:

  • My hosting provider (where the site and database live).
  • My email provider (for notification emails).
  • Google Analytics and Cloudflare (only if you accept analytics cookies).

I do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

If you become a client, I may share your details with subcontractors I use to deliver your project (for example a copywriter or photographer) — only what they need, and they're bound by the same confidentiality.

06

Cookies

I use two types of cookie:

  • Essential cookies — needed for the site to work (for example, the cookie that remembers you've dismissed the cookie banner).
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, only if you accept them via the banner.

You can clear all cookies at any time through your browser settings.

07

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't become clients: deleted after 12 months.
  • Client records: kept for 7 years after the final project ends (HMRC tax record requirement).
  • Analytics data: Google's default retention, currently 14 months.
08

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Ask what data I hold about you
  • Ask me to correct it if it's wrong
  • Ask me to delete it (with some legal exceptions, like tax records)
  • Ask me to export it to you in a standard format
  • Complain to the ICO if you think I've handled your data badly (ico.org.uk)

Email sales@tradesmanwebsitedesign.co.uk with any of the above and I'll action it within 30 days.

09

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes (new third parties, new types of data collected) I'll flag on the homepage for 30 days so regular visitors see it.

QUESTIONS?

Ask me anything about your data.
